COMMUNICATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL POLICIES In search of socio political indicators The environmental issues and socio-environmental conflicts are getting more and more space and importance in our society’s mass media. The public is increasingly demanding more information on issues that affect them first-hand like environmental issues. It is therefore vitally important to reserve a space analysis to investigate the relationship that develops among the nodes in the trinomial "environment", "administration (environmental policy)" and "the attitude of the citizenry." This communication aims to present four cases of analysis about four current socio-environmental conflicts (developed mostly from the year 2000 in the spatial framework of the Basque Country) arising from the implementation of a particular environmental policy. We analyze the communication strategies used by institutions and political parties, by companies and by civil society. Systematized data about the production of messages, the channels used for the socialization of information by each participant actor conflict and the possible impact of such messages and campaigns on public opinion are collected. Ultimately, it presents a diagnosis of the quality and opportunities of public opinion in a context of socio-environmental conflict, directly created by an environmental policy.
