Call for Co-Editor of the OUP Comparative Politics Series

About the role

Working alongside the Publisher at Oxford University Press (OUP), you will:

• Use your contacts in the wider political science community to discover prospective manuscripts for the series, and evaluate their quality.
• Appraise the academic quality of unsolicited submissions.
• Work with OUP to select appropriate referees to provide evaluation reports.
• Advise prospective authors on how to improve their manuscripts and the book prospectus.
• Conduct outreach to junior scholars, helping them navigate the writing process.
• Advise authors on improvements and changes to manuscripts accepted for publication.
• Produce the annual report at the end of the calendar year, working alongside your Co-Editor.
• Work closely with OUP and ECPR to develop the series as an important outlet for publication of the very best new work in comparative politics.

About the applicant

We are looking for a highly motivated political scientist, ideally with some experience of the international publishing industry.

The successful applicant will receive an annual editorial fee and a fund to cover travel expenses incurred in attending meetings related to the book series. The editorship runs for six years, starting 1 October 2025, with a review by ECPR’s Publications Subcommittee at the mid-point.
