Our Standing Group on Parliaments invites scholars at all levels to its 9th Conference in beautiful Barcelona in July 2025.
The flagship conference of our Standing Group on Parliaments brings together scholars from Europe and beyond to share cutting-edge research on parliaments and legislatures.
Unlike large-scale gatherings, it offers a focused environment that balances breadth and depth of research, embracing theoretical, empirical, and methodological diversity.
The event offers an invaluable experience for anyone studying or researching parliaments. It welcomes contributions from scholars at all career stages and invites perspectives on national, sub-national, or international parliaments. We particularly encourage submissions focusing on under-researched regions.
The 2025 conference will be a highlight of the year. Join us in Barcelona for a rich academic programme and exclusive social events, including a visit to the Catalan Parliament and a conference dinner. Submit your proposal today!

The conference is proudly hosted by the Faculty of Law at the University of Barcelona, the largest in Catalonia, renowned for its blend of rich tradition and academic excellence.
Located on the Diagonal Campus in a vibrant and well communicated area, its main building, which won the first FAD prize for architecture, reflects rationalism and functionalism of the 1930s. It is featured in Barcelona’s architectural, historical and artistic heritage catalogue.
The Faculty offers a wide range of academic programmes, including five bachelor’s degrees, five dual degrees, numerous master’s and postgraduate courses, and a doctoral programme.
A leader in research, the Faculty houses 14 research groups, three observatories, and a research institute, while promoting internationalisation through mobility programmes and partnerships.
The participation fee is €220, which includes event registration, lunch on Wednesday and Thursday, all coffee breaks, dinner on Thursday, and a welcome reception.
