In the present context of globalisation and complex interdependence, it seems that the international system is characterised by a high degree of dynamism. While the Cold War international system could be analysed through a quite regular and patterned perspective, contemporary components of the international system interact in a more open and complicated manner. The panel seeks to identify and map these changes in the mechanisms and processes of the international system. Papers here revise a series of concepts that have been at the base of theories about the international system. Secondly, the panel proposes a series of new methods for enquiring into new facets of the international system.
