Abstract

This Section intends to gain systematic scientific knowledge about the phenomenon of Ukraine's ethnopolitical resilience. It aims to clarify the praxeological potential of such knowledge, and to develop proposals for increasing the effectiveness of state ethnopolitics. Certain aspects of the phenomenon of ethnopolitical resilience have attracted the attention of many social scientists, but they have not yet been the object of targeted study. The very term 'resilience' has only recently entered into social science discourse. However, it has a long history of usage in physics, ecology, computer science, psychology, etc, with different content that corresponds to the specificity of the object-subject field of the relevant scientific branch. The term 'resilience' in domestic social sciences is mostly used in Ukrainian translation as 'stability' in the sense of the ability of an object or system to return to its original state of equilibrium after being affected by external forces. However, social systems (subsystems), including ethnopolitical ones, are constantly influenced by external and internal forces, and they themselves influence these forces. As a result of such interaction, they never return to their original state. Therefore, a productive scientific study of ethnopolitical resilience requires an adequate conceptualization of this phenomenon. Conceptualization will help tackle two interrelated challenges. The first is to develop an effective theoretical and methodological toolkit for the planned and subsequent studies of the relevant issues. The second is to use this toolkit to ensure the knowledge obtained about current and likely trends in domestic ethnopolitical dynamics in the foreseeable future is as reliable as possible - including in terms of its impact of Russia's war against Ukraine, and post-war changes within the state and in the world. This Section aims to work out aspects of forecasting and modelling of probable internal and external challenges and threats, to develop and implement a policy of anticipating them and effectively responding to them. This, in turn, will strengthen the ability of the state and society to harmonize special ethnic and common national and civic values and interests of the Ukrainian nation, ensuring upward integration and consolidation dynamics of ethnic and national relations.
