I joined Liverpool John Moores University as a Senior Lecturer in USFP and International Relations in April 2014. I currently lead the International Relations and Politics discipline in the School of Humanities and Social Science. I recently published a book on the rise and fall of US democracy promotion (February 2022) and I am actively working on three other projects: 1. Writing a research monograph on the Obama administration's role in the MENA region during the Arab Spring through the language of democracy promotion and local ownership. 2. Looking at recent transformations in the liberal international order through a theoretical lens, and 3. Examining the impact of climate change on UK democracy at practical and theoretical levels at the end of the 21st century.
