Venue and location

If you are attending the Joint Sessions, you will receive a free travel card at registration, courtesy of Toulouse A Tout. The card allows unlimited access to local buses, metros and trams for the duration of the event.

Visas

Visas are the responsibility of the individual. Depending on the purpose of travel and your country of origin, different types of visas will apply. Enquire well in advance about entry regulations by consulting the French embassy or consulate in your home country. Find out more.

Visa invitation letters will be supplied on request only when we have received the registration fee in full, and when the 7-day cooling off period has passed. ECPR cannot offer any further advice on visas

Getting to Toulouse

When arranging travel and accommodation, please ensure that your booking is refundable. It is your responsibility to arrange appropriate travel insurance. ECPR is not liable for reimbursing the cost of travel or accommodation made by participants.

National strikes
There may be some disruptions to the flight schedule and other transportation services. Please check the status of your transportation before travelling. Access to the airport may also be disrupted, so please plan ahead.

By rail

Please consider your environmental footprint and travel to Toulouse by train, if you can.

Toulouse Matabiau, which is the main railway station in Toulouse, is located within a thirty-minute walk from the venue.

By air

Toulouse-Blagnac airport (TLS) is located within a twenty-minute drive from the venue.

Airport shuttle

Sciences Po Toulouse is in the centre of the city and about twenty minutes’ ride via the airport shuttle (navette) from the airport. The nearest stop to Sciences Po Toulouse on the airport shuttle is at Compans Caffarelli. More Information is available on the here.

The airport shuttle provides a link between the airport at Toulouse-Blagnac and the station at Matabiau (train, metro, local bus, coach) departing every 20 minutes, every day. The shuttle also serves the Pierre Baudis Convention Centre (Compans-Caffarelli stop), the centre of Toulouse and the Jean Jaurès metro station (Lines A and B). This airport shuttle has its own specific fares.

A single ticket costs about €9 and tickets can be purchased on board (in cash). Alternatively, it is possible to take the tram (Line T2) to Palais de Justice (Line B) and then take the metro to Sciences Po Toulouse (Line B, Compans Caffarelli stop). This will cost €1.70. The same ticket can be used on the tram and then used again on the Metro as long as both journeys are consecutive and within an hour of validating the ticket as you board the tram.

Getting to the venue

Metro

  • Line A - Basso Cambo <-> Balma Gramont.
  • Line B - Borderouge <-> Ramonville.

Connections between the two lines can be made in the town centre at Jean Jaurès station.

The closest Metro station to the venue is Compans Caffarelli on Line B.

Tram

  • Line T1 - Palais de Justice <-> MEETT.
  • Line T2 - Palais de Justice <-> Aéroport.

You can take Line T2 to Palais de Justice, then can change to metro (Line B) to reach the venue, disembarking at Compans Caffarelli stop.

Bus

You can use the following bus lines to get to and from the venue and around the city.

Walking

Here are directions from the three main locations in the city.

  1. With Jardin Compans-Caffarelli park on your right, walk along Boulevard Lascrosses until you have passed the pharmacy on your left.
  2. Turn left and walk along Boulevard Maréchal Leclerc until you have crossed the Canal de Brienne bridge.
  3. Turn left and walk along Allée de Brienne.
  4. The venue will be on your right shortly.
  1. With Place du Capitole at your back and pharmacy on your left, walk along Rue Jean-Antoine Romiguières, Rue Pargaminières and Rue Valade until you can see the bridge Pont Saint-Pierre from afar.
  2. Walk diagonally across the grass area towards the right away from the bridge.
  3. Turn right and walk along Quai Saint-Pierre until you have crossed the Canal de Brienne bridge.
  4. Turn right and walk along Allée de Brienne with the canal on your right.
  5. The venue will be on your left.
  1. With the station at your back, walk across the Pont du 19 Mars 1962 bridge.
  2. Walk along Rue de Bayard until you have reached the big crossroad with the LCL bank on your left.
  3. Cross the traffic lights and turn right to walk along Boulevard de Strasbourg with the pharmacy on your right, until you have passed the Jeanne D'arc elevators.
  4. Turn left at the traffic light to walk along Rue Saint-Bernard until you see the Basilique Saint-Sernin de Toulouse church in front of you.
  5. Walk around the church towards your left side at Place Saint-Sernin until the church is at your back.
  6. With the church at your back, walk along Place Saint-Sernin with the museum on your left.
  7. Walk along Rue Emile Cartailhac with the Jardin Cartailhac park on your right and towards Place du Peyrou, Rue Albert Lautman and Rue Valade until you can see the bridge Pont Saint-Pierre from afar.
  8. Walk diagonally across the grass area towards the right away from the bridge.
  9. Turn right and walk along Quai Saint-Pierre until you have crossed the Canal de Brienne bridge.
  10. Turn right and walk along Allée de Brienne with the canal on your right.
  11. The venue will be on your left.
