The local organising committee

The local hosts work alongside the ECPR Events Team to organise the Joint Sessions.

 

Emilios A. Solomou, Chair of the Local Organising Committee.  Dr Emilios A. Solomou is the Executive Vice-President for Administration and the Director of the UNESCO Chair of the University of Nicosia. He holds a Doctorate from the University of Middlesex, where he also serves as an internal examiner. Further to his administrative duties, Dr Solomou also teaches at the Departments of Education and International Relations & European Studies.

Dr Solomou is on the Board of numerous professional associations and organisations such as the Mass Media Institute (IMME), the Cyprus Folk Museum, the Cyprus Pedagogical Association and the Cyprus Center for European and International Affairs of the University of Nicosia (CCEIA). He also serves as a fellow and member in several other organisations such as the Cyprus Historical Association, the Historical Association of the United States, the Historical Association of Great Britain and the National Agency of Teaching of History (USA).

He has published numerous articles and edited books, mostly focusing on Cyprus’ history. His interests focus on the areas of history didactics and historiography, as well as the history of Cyprus.

Constantinos Adamides is an Assistant Professor of International Relations at the University of Nicosia, where he also serves as the Director of the Diplomatic Academy.  Dr Adamides holds a PhD in Political Science and International Studies, an MA in Diplomacy and International Relations, an MBA in Finance, and a BSc in Finance and Political Science.  His research focuses mostly on protracted conflicts, security, terrorism, football and politics, EU foreign and security policy, securitization and AI and the future of warfare.  Dr Adamides was also appointed by President Nicos Anastasiades as a Member of the Geostrategic Council of the Republic of Cyprus and also serves as a member of the inter-ministerial task force responsible for drafting the first Cypriot National Security Strategy.  For a detailed CV and more information visit http://unic.academia.edu/ConstantinosAdamides

Michalis Kontos is an Assistant Professor of International Relations at the University of Nicosia. He holds a PhD from Panteion University, Athens. His main research interests are great power politics, theory of International Relations, strategic theory, European Integration and Cyprus politics.

Dr Kontos was also appointed by the President of the Republic of Cyprus as a Member of the Geostrategic Council of the Republic of Cyprus.
