Abstract

This panel presents a broad range of diverse critical voices such as critical feminist interventions in postwar peacebuilding in Sri Lanka focusing on former combatants associated with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam movement, exploring the power dynamics that shape the representation and recognition of oppressed groups; feminist ontologies and epistemologies on conflict and war in the case of Kosovo in the 1990s, applying an intersectional lens to women’s and feminist contributions to local parallel state-building initiatives; the picturing of contentious politics through protestor figures and visual narratives, more particularly through a visual analysis of the 2013 Gezi protests in Turkey; and a theorizing political account of love based on the Māori concept of ‘aroha’, Black feminist accounts of love, and the role love plays in various social movements.
