In an overview of methodological developments in DPA since 2003, (Wagenaar 2023), Wagenaar included Designed Deliberative Platforms, Enhancing the Deliberative Capacity of a Policy System, and Institutional Design-in-Practice. In two special issues of the journal Policy Studies (2020, 2021) these methods were presented together with other approaches such as action research and systems practice. Rethinking the three pillars of DPA – interpretation, deliberation, practice orientation - the papers in this panel further expand the methodological repertoire of DPA.
