Abstract

The proposed paper aims to identify functions of trade and industrialization in the processes of integration in Central Eastern Europe. The main objective of this research project is to address the crucial elements of development and application of provisions for free trade agreements in Central-Eastern Europe since 1992. These provisions by default reflect institutional and functional choices made by the current EU member states, and former member states of CEFTA, resulting in deeper integration. CCE countries decided to trade their competencies in trade for the prospects of integration with the Communities and support for industrialization. Therefore their views on EU commercial policy nowadays has have been structured and shaped by a specific set of ideas on exclusive competencies on trade. This set of ideas limits, to some extent, CEE’s positions on modern EU trade agreements, and governments of CEE countries remain silent on trade issues. This proposed project aims in analyzing the role of ideas on trade in the process of regional integration by detailed inquiry of meetings of CEE' parliamentary committees discussing the EU Free Trade Agreements from 2008 onwards
