Abstract

Jihadi-Salafism and Right-Wing Extremism – a frenemy relationship that oscillates between mutual hatred and admiration between groups from both ideological camps. In her ongoing research, Müller-Rensch takes a closer look at current local and global examples to highlight the differences and similarities between some of these groups’ actors and networks to unmask the reciprocal dependency and subsequent threat posed by this paradox relationship. Introducing a first draft to theorize the comparison of the two global social movements, the paper highlights the key role of women for both movements. In doing so, Müller-Rensch identifies the "Madonna-Whore Narrative" as one of the major ideological narratives shared by Jihadi-Salafists and Right-Wing Extremists.
