Abstract

This section provides, on the one hand, a platform to share experiences on how to design and implement teaching on the EU. On the other hand, it offers the breeding ground for critical reflection on teaching objectives and practices in light of ongoing trends in higher education and European politics. How has teaching the EU changed in the past 15 years in light of ongoing crises or democratic malaises? How much should our teaching on the EU consider current events or trends (e.g. data science)? Do online resources and digital tools facilitate the active engagement of students in researching about the EU? How can we as SGEU community further the quality of teaching on the EU in a collaborative and inclusive manner? The section also encourages the exchange of experiences from the last two years and of lessons learnt from Covid-times on teaching and on staff welfare. We seek paper or panel proposals for any aspect of Teaching on the EU, which may focus but are not limited to the following topics: - Teaching EU politics: core puzzles; - Innovating teaching on the EU; - Digitalising teaching on the EU; - Teaching critical perspectives in EU politics; - Teaching on the EU in a collaborative, transdisciplinary or transnational manner; - Teaching the EU to heterogenous, non-politics or non-EU student cohorts; - Civic education on the European Union ; - Teaching the EU after Covid: new trends, old malaises? The section convenors would be delighted to discuss on any ideas of submissions.
